Carcassonne continued........(Languedoc)

What to do after the Cite? a walk along the canal du Midi - more interesting when there are more boats about in the summer and the locks are being negotiated. Of course it'll have to be a linear walk but at least that way you know how far to go if you want an hour/2 hour/etc walk. I've never actually walked from Carcassonne, this jazzy barge was somewhere near Colombiers. As it's all flat you're not doing it for stunning scenery more for it's restful qualities (and exercise).

Thats Carcassonne done so if you're there for longer take the train to Narbonne, about 20 minutes away, more mediaeval buildings, more pretty canal and a better class of shop, it's not a big city centre but I think it would be worth the trip. Good market too, can't remember which morning.
