CERAMICS (Languedoc)

Stall at the St.Pons marche de poterie.

Our main expenditure over summer is at the pottery markets that pop up in the languedocian towns and villages. This year our purchases weren't all completely successful! On a particularly hot day having just bought amongst other things a hanging planter from the stall at the top of the page - terracotta pieces with the bugs and amphibians on them, Michael decided to buy a can of Perrier from a stall, in the manoeuvre of money, plastic bags and tin of drink there was not a dull thud but unfortunately a resounding crack shortly followed by a louder and in unison 'shit'. We scuttled away extremely embarrassed to inspect the damage around the corner whilst the refreshment stall holders suppressed their titters. It ended up in 2 major pieces, several smaller bits and a little pile of dust. So it's currently glued together and the missing bits (the dust) filled in and awaiting a coat of terracotta paint if I can get a good match, could have been worse, 70euro not quite completely down the Swanee.
