CHRISTMAS MARKETS (Alps)

Comber was setting up it's Christmas market today (I was visiting the lovely 'Doghouse' gallery and shop) and I must admit the stalls in the square looked very impressive with their red stripey awnings. I just hope it's not the usual market tat that's now on them. French Christmas markets are pretty good, sometimes German markets are hyped up a bit too much but this ones the business - in Montreux, Switzerland. A hour and a half pilgrimage each year from our apartment in St.Jean it never fails to impress with quality gifts and great food. The stalls, sorry that is log cabins line the lakeside along which the Italian tourists who are wearing a medium sized colony of furry wildlife saunter. A winter weekend break to Geneva and hop on the water taxi and you could be there. But we are talking serious money if you spend, spend, spend in Switzerland.
