WALKING IN THE ALPS (again)

There used to be an advert on Ulster television with the jingle
'walking is what you do,
 walking,
it is so good for you'
I've failed to find it on the net, (not that it was a particularly remarkable ad) but the little tune gets stuck in your head, (was it copied from a pop song of the time? answers please!)

Anyway it is certainly what I do, especially in France. With my little sketchbook project at Easter my walking programme was cut back to less than 2 hours per day and I feel a bit guilty if I don't manage a 3-4 hour walk every other day. Walking is lazy person's exercise; easy, cheap, requires no specialist equipment (unless you want it to) and no skill other than that learnt by most people when they were 1.

The main joy for me is seeing things I wouldn't otherwise, even if you should have to stick to roads when you are walking you are going to see little things that will never be visible when scooting past in a car.

But roads probably won't be on route in the Alps. But good signposting is, I frequently get lost elsewhere but these parts are idiot proof.

How can a view like this not make your heart sing? Shouldn't have used that word! 'The hills are alive.....' is now in my head.
