BACK AGAIN

It has been brought to my attention by my legions of fans (all 2 of them) that it has been some time since I blogged, therefore HELLO! Yes blog entries have been barren, we have been here and there, backwards and forwards, working from laptop, tablet and trusty computer and never really settled sufficiently to have a peaceful half hour to compose a piece of literary brilliance.
We are currently in residence in the Languedoc and it is now our maison principale, I intend to send about two thirds of the year here, no.1 son has likewise taken up residence in the cottage in Brittany and has been living in what he lovingly refers to as his shack since April (one day the watertight qualities, or lack of will be resolved at Toad Hall). Our N.I. residence follows a similar trend with the odd drip appearing from who knows where every now and again. I dare not sing the praises of the dry interior of St.Pons as we are about to embark on a major velux installation campaign and I don't want to tempt fate and have that go into a moist pear shape.

Over the years we have nearly always had a 'Christmas holiday disaster', this hasn't been a problem we have encountered personally but a global occurrence; a plane crash, avalanche and probably the most major of all the dreadful tsunami of 2004. It now seems the 'Christmas holiday disaster' has been joined by the pre Languedoc visit flood. Last year 4 died in a camp site in Lamalou just a few miles away from us, as a tidal wave of sludgy water soup filed with tree/vegetation debris and garden furniture, rocks, bits of metal, bikes, cars, whatever, swept down the narrow valley then along a storm drain that couldn't cope after sudden violent rain. It is quite amazing to visit a site such as this well after the event and see how high the tide mark of destructive filth has been left up the walls of what were once pristine lovely family homes. Recently (last week) another deadly tidal wave engulfed the village of Biot in Provence, I think the death toll frighteningly exceeded 20. And habitually the are flash floods in the Pyrenees, whoops there goes another piece of road parting company from the side of the mountain. Yes when if rains here it's as if a high pressure tap has been turned on, on occasions.

Well this is nice! returning to the blog with such happy thoughts - sorry.

But this past week has been glorious for October and I have enjoyed it in the company of 4 visiting artists from N.I. unfortunately this their last day looks like it could be a wee bit dull. I must away and prepare to dash off a sketch or painting or two - will report back soon.

Adverse weather for artists? - can you have too much sun?
