GOING BACK IN TIME (Brittany)

I can't believe it has been 3 months since I blogged, tut, tut, tut. So I am now going to travel back in time to Christmas - sorry folks for being so current - but as this blog is more or less a kind of  diary for me I need to work my way back/forwards to February 2016.

So.
For the first time in 14 years we did not spend Christmas in the Alps (naturally because we no longer own a property in the Alps), a Christmas without snow just isn't Christmas but then again if we had still been in Grande Terche there wouldn't have been any white stuff in sight, even on the top of the mountains. Seems we picked the right year to bid adieu, in the past we haven't had snow until boxing day and worse still new years day one year. This year with still an interested eye on the ski forecasts I think the snow finally arrived on the 5th or 6th of January, meanwhile in Morbihan it was ridiculously, unseasonably warm and the days running up to Christmas were spent gardening, doing all the tidying up jobs that usually occur at Easter. But even so we were pleasantly surprised by quite a good advent vibe in the region with Christmas markets aplenty - some much better than others. (Don't ever bother going to the one in Rennes, grim)
The bees knees was Rochefort en Terre, admittedly the shops were just as they always were whatever season and additional stalls weren't prolific, but there was music and there were lights, I should say LIGHTS! And boy did folk turn out to see them, these poor french folk have been starved of christmas commerciality and they are embracing it now bigtime.

Just a fraction of the crowd turning out for the daily light switch on.

Love this curtain idea with the lights, might be copying that next year.
And meanwhile in Ploermel, not a bad firework display.....

Our wee tree from the apartment, replanted in Brittany, next year ALL the christmas decorations will find new homes - somewhere?

Low light photos aren't great - sorry
