MAY DAY - weather report

We have been back from our wonderful trip to Porto for 5 days now and apart from a lovely day yesterday the weather seems very disappointing for this time of year. As the 'Other Half' is now very much, officially, an 'Old Person' and as I have always possessed a rubbish memory, it's time we made some diary notes on the way the seasons pass, as apart from the lovely Louis, the weather man on France 1 telling us temperatures are below/above seasonal norms, we are sort of grasping at straws when we wonder if the current weather is really shite (perfectly respectable Irish noun or pronoun, not rude at all), as it may have been just as shite in the previous years we've been here in May.

This morning is grey and the ground wet from rain through the night. Yesterday was so like a Northern Irish Sunday, long, boring, not worth going out, not very inspiring, a couldn't be arsed (another perfectly acceptable Irish word) kind of day - when you (well I) just nibble all day - comfort food. This morning I was not keen to get out of bed - the bedroom was COOL - this is ridiculous. The fire hasn't been lit since the end of March, but the petrol heater has been on most evenings as the electric radiator, the supposed 'background' heat is not sufficient. By 3 p.m. today we are promised blue sky, sun and a tropical 13 degrees. 13, 13! what the **** (feck would have been an acceptable Irish expletive but doesn't quite convey our disgust). To make matters worse we have guests from Belfast to pick up from Narbonne this afternoon, oh dear.

Praying for blue skies - or more to the point HEAT
